What is a QR Code?

QR stands for "Quick Response." It's a 2D barcode that can store text, URLs, phone numbers, WiFi passwords, and more. Invented in 1994 by a Toyota subsidiary to track car parts — now used everywhere.

How QR Codes Store Data

The black and white squares encode binary data. Key components:

• Finder patterns: The three large squares in corners — help your camera orient the code
• Alignment pattern: Smaller square for perspective correction
• Data modules: The actual encoded information in the grid
• Error correction: Redundant data that lets codes work even when partially damaged (up to 30% can be missing!)
